We are going to make several assumptions about the person taking this course. First, you are just beginning and have no or little experience with honey bees. Second, you are in the process of gathering information to help you either buy your first hive or are gathering information to buy equipment and either buy a package of bees or a nuc to get started. Third, you are not familiar with the terminology of beekeeping.
Everyone must begin at something. We don't suddenly wake up some day and think okay, I will go down to the airport and rent an airplane and take it up for a little spin!
As you go through the lessons of "Beekeeping 101" we will define all the terms that we use. We will also try when possible to use photographs to illustrate what we are describing. There is a saying in educational circles that goes like this, "Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." What is so difficult with beekeeping on the internet is the last part "Involve me and I learn." You will not learn beekeeping by reading. You will however gain knowledge about beekeeping which you will need to apply when you get that first hive of bees.
Always remember -- If you do not understand something being explained in these lessons, you may email me at : stahlmanapiaries@aol.com . Your feedback to my email will help improve this course and of course, help others who may be having the same problem.
